Push button start question
So i picked up a 91 vert that has a push but start. The ignition is damaged, so basically you can shove anything in there turn it to ign and push the button. At this point i dont see why not put a switch instead so no more car keys. I just am not sure about wiring this up.

First thing is you'd have to remove the ignition lock otherwise you'd get stuck going straight.
Second, you could use this information to hotwire a car so figure it out yourself. It's pretty simple really. Oh and make sure you get a switch that can handle the voltage that goes through the switch.
Third, unless you want your car stolen by drunken teens get rid of that push button and replace the ignition and the switch

Use the wiring diagram in Chapter 15 (T) of the 1989 Factory Service Manual (FSM). The 2nd Gen FAQ has links to free online manuals.

Just for clarification, this is accomplished by cutting slots in the ignition switch blind screw heads by using a chisel or a Dremel cutting wheel, and then removing the screws with a standard screwdriver. The lock bolt will fall out when the ignition switch is removed. It is a good idea to cover the hole in the steering column so that nothing gets jammed in there. I used a piece of aluminum attached with hose clamps. The basic disassembly procedure is in FSM Chapter 10 (N).
