Possible FD owner

I've loved rx-7s of all kinds since I was like twelve. Even before I knew anything about cars. Well now I've found an FD that's in decent shape for a relatively low price, but I'm not quite sure how much is wrong with it.

It has a rebuilt engine at 30k miles and I'm pretty sure he has receipts of the place it was done at, the only thing is, I don't know what to look for to see if it was right. It also has turbo problems, but I can afford a new turbo, I was just wondering if problems with a turbo exceed the turbo itself.

Also, any other things to look out for in a rotary or FDs for that matter.

Thanks in advance, Zack

If you go to the 3rd Gen form FAQ there is a thread about buying an RX-7

wait, the motor was rebuilt AT 30k miles or 30k miles ago...if it was rebuilt at 30k i would away. that sounds to me like it was mistreated or proper maintenance was not taken care of.

What kind of turbo problems?
Not enough boost on the primary? Transition issues? Not enough boost after 4500 rpm...?

On the FD, turbo problems can often have nothing to do with the turbos themselves, so it might not be as expensive as you think.

Usually something wrong with the turbo control system. Not the turbos.

There are some links for turbo troubleshooting in the 3rd gen faq. Dig into that.
