Porting differences, and streetablity??

I have a 12a that I have been slowly tearing into over the last few months. I've rebuilt one of these motors in the past, but haven't been to perceptive to internal mods.
So I've been hunting different porting types, and I'm getting kind of confused.
I'm wondering what the actual benefits are from an extended port, as compared to a full port.
I'm also wondering what would be a better port for the street, power wise...
A large street port, or an extended street port.
I'm also curious what the benefit is to an extended mild port?

I'm also wondering if you can overdo an exhaust port, if your intake port is fairly mild?

Any info could help me make a solid choice on where to go with this.
Thanx

Thanx bud.
I actually looked at that just before I wrote the post.. lol
But its still appreciated.
I'm aiming toward doing an extended port, but just want to weigh my options.
Like how far can you advance a mild port?
Does being cheap on the vertical cut really cut that much topend?
I'd like a good strong mid range powerband, and around 180 to 200hp with other mods. (Intake, holley carb, and custom header).

This motor is going into a FWD. A 91' VW Golf is my subject..
I have a Toyota S53 (3s-fe) gearbox already. It's geared really close to a stock first gen trans, with a 3.94 final ratio.
Needless to say I'll need bottom end, and to keep it kinda mild, as to not tear things apart. Like axles, and bearings...
Axles are gonna be custom made.

I'd like to see this. Will you have a build thread for the swapped Golf?

For sure I will.
It's really hard to find info on FWD conversions. But they have been done.
So if I can help others out in the future I'll try.
I'm still jumping hoops right now, and money is tight. But I'll definitely start a thread on it when I get things kicked off.
I might have a change of heart with the transmission, which will force me to use an mk3 subframe. Then use a 02J Volkswagen transmission, if the passenger side axle clears the exhaust ports. But it has a 4.23 final ratio, and lower gears threw out.

I run a large extend port 12a in my rx2 and it is great fun to drive. Pulls well to 9k made 180 hp at the wheels with a Weber
Will be an interesting conversion
