Poor mileage 87 13B after rebuild
I just finished a complete rebuild on a 1987 13B Turbo and have about 600 miles using defined break in procedures. I am only getting around 10 miles per gallon during the break in period. Injectors have been cleaned/rebuilt,, new O2 sensor, but otherwise engine is stock with most if not all emission control equipment removed. Engine is idling around 2300 rpm's and I suspect TPS is defective. I have read about tuning the engine but cannot seem to find much information on it. I would appreciate any suggestions/directions on where to go for more help in improving MPG's on this engine.

well, a few things come to mind. the first of which is it's a fresh rebuild. how much of the engine is new? also, if both seals and housings are new, then it can still just be breaking in. 600 miles is a little more than halfway there. so there's that. for comparison's sake, what was your mileage like before?
you mentioned that you suspect a faulty TPS, and if you are correct, then it's not helping your cause. i would say test the TPS and confirm it's status, then take it from there. eliminate all potential issues.
in the spirit of potential issues, have you checked the obvious culprits, like air filter, spark plugs, brakes, exhaust, and so on?

I think those 3 reasons above are the big gas burners ATM. Not sure what effect the exhaust has, idk much about this racing beat version.
It just says RB on the tips and not Racing Beat.
