CA Please help FC NA runs Rich and Fuel Gauge drops to Empty right at half tank

Hi i am new to rotary cars so here we go. I Just got this NA FC and i have been experiencing a few issues. the car seems to be running really rich and I have been getting horrible gas mileage from it. I have Fixed the exhaust leak already but problem persisted. 02 sensor maybe?

2nd issue is that the Gas gauge will appear empty as soon as the gas level passed the halfway point on the gauge. If I fill up to the full tank, the gauge will display full until it reaches the halfway point and immediately drops to empty. I am baffled by this gauge problem.

Any Solutions will help tthanks!!!

Hello, i'll take a shot at this. Rotaries run rich naturally, but some things to consider that might help your gas mileage and might run a little leaner, get a tune up. Change all your filters gas, oil and air filter. Change your spark plugs and wires, get an oil change, get yourself a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner, dump that into your gas tank, and last your o2 sensor. That may not be the issue but it doesn't hurt to change it. Since winter is coming, check all your hoses and belts, before it gets cold and too late. As for the gas tank issue you have, i have the same issue, it could be different things as well, but my issue had to do with the FUEL LEVEL SENDER. Its inside your gas tank.

A bad O2 sensor can affect cruising fuel economy. What kind of mileage are you getting? The factory MPG rating was only 18/23 or 18/24 to begin with, and you'll need to baby it to get that much. With a lead foot, I usually averaged around 15-17 mpg with mixed driving on my NA engine.

The gauge issue will likely be the fuel level sender (black box on fuel pump assembly).
