please help!!

well i have a 86 rx7 and i went to change the starter on it because mine went out and one bolt came out fine the other i got loosened up and it just sits there and free spins and wont come out i've tried even pulling on it to get it out that didn't work its stuck in the trans and seems like no matter what it wont come out....any ideas anyone?

The bolt you're talking about goes through the transmission bell-housing, then through the rear iron of the engine. It has a nut on the other end, and a the main engine ground connected to it. Get a wrench on the end, then take it out.

did mazda put a nut on the top starter bolt in 86? only delt with up to 85 and the top bolt threads into the nose housing of the starter.

Never worked on an 1st gen, but all 2nd gens are setup this way. The bolt is about 4-5" long with a nut on the end. The other bolt for the starter is much shorter, and threads into the bell housing. Both go in from the starter-side.

interesting. 1st gen and earlier has threads in the top hole of the starter flange and the bolt goes thru from the engine side.
