Pitted Aluminum Rims

I have an '83 with the 4 spoke stock rims on it. There are many places where the clear coat has worn off and the aluminum is pitted. Can I have some advise on restoring these things?

Run a search on the 1st Gen section. Someone did a very nice writeup on this subject.
