Pilot bearing removal

Can I remove the pilot bearing with the flywheel and flywheel nut on? What's a good way to do remove it? I don't really want to spend $100 on a pilot bearing removal tool... I have 87 TII.

Thanks.

Some have had good luck using a blind hole puller borrowed from a local auto parts store. No, you don't need to remove anything of the flywheel to work on the bearing.

Harbor Freight Tools sells a pilot bearing puller for around $15. You have to grind down the "feet" a litte with a bench grinder, but then it works fantastic. It takes longer to set it up on the bearing than to pull the bearing. It makes a ten minute job out of it.
