Oem bose?

My shell had a Bose system when new. Is it worth piecing the "wave" back together? Worth it? Does it sound good? Thanks.

I'm not an audiophile but understand the BOSE system was decent sounding when new. The biggest draw back was the "tube" snaking thru the hatch area that took up space. As it aged (and aftermarket stuff improved) it became obsolete. The problem was that the components were somehow individually amp'd or something...and you couldn't just add a new headunit, everything had to be replaced.

Again, I'm an old guy and not big into stereos. And (fortunately?) my car is a R model that had a more traditional stereo, so I never dealt with it. There is a audio section with more info in the stickys here ---> https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/

The Bose Wave in the trunk of my 94 Touring worked for a couple months back in 2010 when I bought it. It sounds pretty good. SgtBlue is right though; the trunk portion of the system is powered by a separate, bose proprietary, amp (under the trunk carpet) and controller (below the stock deck).
When the amp blew I decided to pull out all of the low freq audio equip to gain some extra space and put in a low-profile JBL sub/amp set up I had in my garage. The Bose speakers in front still sound great and will work with any head unit.

The Bose Acoustic Wave system is fantastic when working properly. It does take up space and can be a maintenance hog but when its working its pretty sweet vintage stuff!
