Noob thinking of buying an FB-RX7 needs to know what he's getting into
As the post title states, i'm hoping to buy a manual 1981 FB -RX7, that doesn't run. This would be my first project car, since i want to actually learn how to work on cars and about cars in general. The owner said that " in 2007, one day it didn’t start. Since I had a battery charger trickle charging the battery, I assumed it was the starter. I also set the charger to max, and still nothing happened. However, the interior light and gauges did light up." Since then it hasn't been touched. But to my understanding it has been garage kept. He also mentioned the only mods done to the car were for suspension and appearance. This is all i know as of now. I presume that i'll have my work cut out for me if i go through with getting this car. Seeing as I barely know anything about cars in general, i was hoping for some guidance on what i should expect to possibly have to do to a car that hasn't ran since 2007 (this car) to get it running. I'm not asking what is the problem with the car specifically, but what may be the process/steps i would have to go through to check what does/does not work and get the car in a running condition (new oil, new battery, etc etc). I'm sorry for what may seem like very vague and dumb questions, but as i mentioned i barely know anything about cars, but really want to fix this one up as my first project. Anyways, i would appreciate any and all helpful comments from this community.
Something to note, I cannot inspect the car in person simply because it is on the other side of the country, (dumb idea on my part, i know i know) but i can ask questions and request pictures.

Honestly, If you're set on getting an rx7, i would find something closer to you. Buying something sight unseen, as your first project car is biting off a LOT more than you can chew.
Keep in mind that car is over 40 years old. So whatever can go wrong, likely has, or will. I don't say this to discourage you, but instead maybe try to find something that runs but needs work. As a new comer, you'll have a far better time wrenching on little fixes rather than starting on the hardest mode possible.
Good luck!

I don't know how much you're paying for this RX-7 plus shipping back to CT. but think about this. If you can find a good running RX-7 close to CT, you're probably ahead of the game. If an experienced RX-7 owner could look at this, they could probably let you know if it's worth it. Post some pic and the price and there are plenty of us here that can tell you if it's reasonable starting point and price. Many times, finding one running is actually cheaper in the long run. An engine rebuild can easily cost $1000.
