noob, need assistance ,?s about fc
hey i just bought my second car and it happens to be my dream car(fc ) . i have a few questions about it if anyone can help me.
1st --of the car is a 1990 and it has the square ugly tail lights ,is that normal are they supposed to come like that eve though its a 90 and can i replace them with the round ones,
2nd the guy whom i bought the car from said he replaced the engine with one with less mile so he didnt have to deal with rebuilds. i just want to know what year that engine came from to see if its the one with 145hp or 160 hp.is there a way to know and also how can i tell how many miles it has.
and finally my dash boards oil guage doesnt work but all my others like rpm fuel temp and volt do .how can i fix that.ohh and my center light things that tell you if the doors sre open or check engine thing doest even turn on when i put the key in how do i fix it .
thanks i appreciate any help. i live in florida just to through that out there.

If the car is a '90 it should have round tail lights. It would be strange to replace them with the older lights unless the car was in a collision and the repair was done cheaply. The proper lights will bolt right in.
Another engine from an S5 would have been used if it was replaced because installing an S4 engine is not straightforward. If the intake manifold has a square chamber on the top it is an S4. If it has a smaller square chamber with a series of tubes coming out of it then it is an S5.
Make sure the oil pressure sender is plugged in.
Check to make sure the idiot cluster is plugged in. If it is, then resolder it.

Ohh yea it makes sence. And yea its weird that the lights are square and not round now i have to spend 200 dollars on some round ones. But cant you tell the year off the engine by looking at the serial number?

Yes, if you post a picture it is easy to tell.
The S5 has the intake manifold I described. It has an electronic metering oil pump (no rod from the pump to the throttle body). It has a round AFM. The BAC is on the opposite side of the engine (towards the passenger).
