Angry No secondary turbo

I have a 94 fd standard. Just recently my power has decreased, I'm getting no secondary boost. It has a gretty timer and aftermarket exhaust. Does anyone know where to start looking. The vacuum hoses seem to be good, I have noticed a drop in idle rpm, other than that it's running great. Seems as if the second turbo is doing nothing?? It has about 40k on the engine, 74k total. Thanks in advance.

There are a few things that have to happen all at once to make the secondary turbo operate properly. These actuators and valves are supported also by at least one solenoid and the solenoids rely on having vacuum or pressure present to charge the actuators.

Have a look for loose or broken parts under the pressure chamber - that's the plastic tank right in front of the throttle cable.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I was heading down that road. Is there a diagnostic to narrow the search or tell if it's electrical? Thanks again

If it's electrical you'll probably find a code in the ECU. Info on how to pull codes is in the 3rd Gen FAQ.

There is also a really good webpage link in the FAQ under "Turbo Troubleshooting"

Thumbs up Thanks again

I appreciate the response, with over 10,000 posts I'm sure you wouldn't steer me wrong. Great having this resource available, not like the old days.

I wouldn't INTENTIONALLY steer anyone wrong. But my post count actually means I've written the same basic things a few hundred times over.
