No rear seats No storage whats under there ?
Just wondering whats under the area where rear seats or storage boxes are if you dont have either of these options and if it is easy to custom a seat or storage or sub box, just got the 86 base model recently and wanted to ask before i start ripping up stuff, was considering making a docking station on passenger side for child car seat( no leg room needed). and perhaps a sub enclosure on drivers side, wondering if there is sealed area under there or if it is unusable, thanks. air
Thanks for your reply, so there is just metal under the carpet and nothing below, i thought maybe the metal was near the bottom and only covered by the panel. so any mods would have to be welded in, well that blows

Under the carpet is a fiberglass bulkhead. Inside the bulkhead is air. Unbolting the bulkhead will uncover the wells used to hold the rear seats (if fitted).
There is a considerable about of space but I don't know if it should be used to hold a child. I don't know anything about kids but it seems to me that this would not be very safe.

bulkhead
Thanks for your reply, thats the answer i was looking for, under the fiberglass is the steel, if seats could be fitted there then there would be mounts for seatbelts and perhaps a customseat could be constructed. I am looking mainly at an anchor point for a childs car seat, so as long as a proper seat belt anchor could be installed the childs seat should be safe. I definately would get it checked out before I risked my childs life
