NJ NO HEAT? Please help winter is coming!

Hello, I have an 88rx7 N/a. The blower or fan work when powered on by the logicon & the logicon seems to be working when I press all the buttons to redirect the air flow but the air does not get hot when put in the hot position. Also, I have an A/C compressor but the air does not come out cold either. When I press the button for A/C, I don't hear the compressor turning on. Can someone give some advice please? Thanks!!!!!

Remove the logicon and open it up. You should be able to clean up the contacts for the temp selector. It sounds like it's not making contact properly, and therefore isn't directing hot/cold air through the ducts.

Opened up dashboard and don't think its the logicon. When I move cold/hot selector, I can see the flap inside the dash opening and closing. Does anyone think that maybe its the heater core?

Removing a heater core sucks, on any car. Try to suspect that last.

The only way I can see the heater core being the problem is if it is completely plugged up so the water never makes it though. I would suspect the valves that control flow first. You should be able to hear them open when you press the heater button w/ the ignition on.

If you do insist on pulling the core and checking it, it's not that bad on an FC. It's a pain to be on your back under the dash, but the core actually comes out fairly easily. No need to tear apart the dash or anything; just 1 plastic cover w/ 2 screws.

Also, the fact that the logicon seems to be working means that your AC problem is just due to an under/over pressurized system.

I am having this same problem, although a little different. The blower changes speeds with the slider, but it doesn't seem to redirect the airflow when I hit the different selector buttons. I know the A/C was disconnected from the car before I got it. Don't know squat about Heat & A/C systems and WI winters can get mighty cold. Would this just be a logicon problem?

Edit: Also, it seems to blow out the same temp air whether it's on hot or cold. But, when the outside temp drops it can get pretty cold in the car.

reply to heat problem

Hey Rotaryfinn,
I have done a lot of research on this forum and almost everyone says its the Logicon itself that goes bad in these cars. It needs to be replaced or repaired, which could get expensive. BUT! If you need heat right away, like I did, I will tell what I did, AND IT WORKED!!! FREE AND EASY TO DO!!!! I was instructed by someone on this site to go under the driver's side dash. Way up under the dash, you can see the heater box/core. There is some sort of flap or door on this unit. If you reach way up in there and open this door with your hand, it would let the hot air circulate into your car. I did it and it worked!!! Good Luck.

Hey! Thanks for the advice. I haven't really dug into it too much, but I wanna say it's the logicon which has gone down the tube...it's starting to get cold, so if I can find a quick fix for now I would be happy.

After the engine is at operating temp you can use a laser thermometer, or just by touch, verify hot coolant is moving through both hoses to heater core. If one stays cool, the core is blocked .
