VA newbe 86 gxl runs but weak!!

Hi to every one!!

Recently purchase an 86 gxl with only 78000 miles in it. The engine runs but is weak and smoke thru some holes in the cat. I will replace the spark plugs, oil and the cat also I have read that I have to check the timing due to the car was park for a long time and the previous owner replaced the fuel pump only. Sorry but that’s all I know about this car. I am not very up to date with MR. Wankel technology but I can learn quick so I will appreciate your help

Ivan

If it has been parked for a long time, then there are going to be a lot of problems with the car. For example, the entire fuel system will likely need to be rebuilt.

Couldn't agree more. Also, watch the fuel as it comes out and look for chunks of rust. Happened to me, and i was able to get my gas tank kind of cleaned and repaired ,cause of the holes at the near top/side, at an auto body shop. It was cheaper then getting a new/refurbished one.
