There are alot of mods to get done. DD is possible if you maintain the car properly.
There are a bunch of mods you should do when you first get the car. Of the top of my head, in addition to the ones stated above,
Upgrade radiator, AST, I think down pipe, Efini y-pipe and upgraded ECU will help you with a smoother transition to the second turbo.
If you wanna go nuts, from the very little I know,
-Dual oil coolers
-single turbo
-Upgraded ICs
-V-mount?

was just going to comment on the vac lines. there are many, many of them in the FD. half the problems i can imagine trace to vac stuff. make the vac system a priority, then do all the grounds, fluids, spark plugs/wires, hoses, etc...
other than that, theres not much needed to make the car a DD. make sure the tires and brakes are good, change the engine oil frequently, and keep some oil in the car to add when needed.

Not to be a pessimist, but I don't think the third gen is a very good choice for a daily driver, especially a young one. A first or second gen will work much better.
Reliability mods:
Downpipe
Replacement AST (air seperation tank)
Replacement radiator
Silicone hoses
