CO new to me '89 gxl, no power after 7k

Exactly that. I test drove an s4 when I was shopping and it pulled almost Identicaly to 7k, but my new gxl with a brand new transmission has 0 power after 7k-7500rpms. I had my foot to the floor for a good few seconds after 7k, in 1st. after 7500 it would barely move, and at ~8 it just wouldnt go any more. I Wasn't going to over rev it, but it was almost at the 8k redline, a hair below. if I shift at 7 it has quite good get up and go. Any input would be appreciated. mods- k&n filter. Thank you!

Check your secondary 5th and 6th ports for proper operation. Also get a new bracket for your air pump, it's cracked.

Ok, how would I check that? Also, I got the bracket replaced when the transmission was repaired. Thank you!

Having now done quite a bit of research on this, I tested them and they don't work, along with the vdi. The person who owned it before me hacked up all the Emissions stuff, so that's why. Boooo for idiots who do that bs!
