New fuel pump problems

Almost done putting my 45mm weber and new fuel pump. Im stuck though! The new Holley red fuel pump won't turn on (or atleast I don't hear it turn on), but it's hot after cranking it. After cranking it my fuel return line has fuel running out of it. I guess I should block it off... When I plug the old pump back it I can here that one turn on. And when I crank the car with the old pump on a little fuel gets to the filter near the regulator. Help me out! Why is the new pump not working. Do I need a relay? Do I just cap the return line? Wtf is up with my car?

Are you sure you have it plumed correctly? Maybe the supply and return backwards?

Yeah that's what I thought but it's all straight. I don't know what the problem is. I don't wanna take it to a shop cause I know it's a tiny problem

2 questions.
Is the RED Holley more powerful than the Holley Blue?
and do they not normally run hot?( I'm not a 1st Gen guy but have heard so)

you may want to check the gauge of wiring to the pump itself too,and establish if it is adequate for the job.

Just as a test, remove the supply from the carb and check flow. If no flow then it has to be either the pump, supply line, or wiring.
