Need a little help getting my 84 rx7 gsl-se back on the road


Ok, I got my hands on a badass little car: 1984 Rx7 Gsl coverted to the gsl-se. (i dont know how detailed the conversion was, but i do know the car is heavily modded)
To start, its a 13b with raceing beat holley carb, raceing beat exsaust, and the oil pump removed. So, after looking into this car, researching it, this is what i think happened:
1) the original owner knew what he was doing, the kid that got it before me not so much.
2) since the oil pump was removed, they pre-mixed fuel, oil coated the innereds of the fuel pump, possibly the carb, and well, she died.
3) i know little about the history, but it may have been ran with just fuel after the removal of the oil pump. ******* dumb kid.
I never herd this car run, so this is all guess work.
Here are my main questions:
1) i have yet to determine the size of the carb, how can i do that?
2) porting.. i think its bridge ported, whats the difference between the porting?
3) the fuel system is out, and being completly redone. So what fuel pumps, regulators, psi, premix vs pump and other such things, do yall recommend? (i have already looked pretty deep into this, just wanna ask around)
4) rebuilding the carb, never have before, any tips?
And the last question that im sure i know the answer to, and dont wanna ask but:
5) how lucky can you get with apex seals...and no oil...?

The first thing to do would be compression test the engine and see what numbers you can get from the results.

Don't start changing things before you know how they are performing or not. No need to introduce more issues. If the compression checks out, ensure you have fuel and spark and try to get it running. Do not try to rebuild the carb before doing any of this. As a side note, premixing is ok, it will not hurt the fuel pump.

Thank you, I like your thinking.find whats wrong and fix that first. I only know enough to get my self into trouble with regular motors, let alone a rotary. And this is my first real build.

OR Your '84

First of all, I wouldn't change a single THING about the suspension or tires. The car appears to have AMAZING grip!

Jokes aside, gonna go with Kansas City Repu and say, get existing stuff sorted before trying to change anything. I looks like there are a lot of potential vacuum leaks and, unless you have removed the oil [I]metering[I] pump since the picture was taken, it is still there. My advice on that is don't take it out unless you plan on never passing emissions again and only do it if you can be religious about running pre-mix all the time. The apex seals need some extra lubing.

Read up on the steps required for first starts on an engine that has been sitting. i.e., plugs out, fill the plug holes with oil; hand crank from the e-shaft bolt, etc... also a great idea to let your neighbors know that you'll be starting the car and it will look like your house is burning down and not to call the fire department.

Many things to do...read up before you first fire.

It will be worth the wait!
