Need help on leaving the car stood

Hello ive just bought a 1992 RX7 and i cant drive it because of the snow.
Ive heard stories about if you leave the car stood for about a month, it can really damage the engine, also starting it up and not driving it is also not good for the turbo.
If this is true what do you recomend i do ????????????
Would be greatfull for any help
Rich

Uh, no. If you're going to leave it for months at a time, just start it up every now and then. The turbos will be just fine.

If you intend to leave the car sitting a LONG time such as months and months, it is best to put in a gasoline stabilizer in the tank or drain it. I have put cars up on jackstands too to prevent them from getting flat spots in the tires.

occasional starting is helpful but make sure where you are storing the car is dry. you either have a 91 or 93. there were no 1992 model year RX-7's produced.

I leave mine parked all winter, about 3 months or more. I just ensure to put fuel stabilizer in the fuel and not be overdue on the oil change.

If it's not a big deal, start it up and let it run for 10-15min every month or so. This will let it warm up and dry out and get the fluid moving.

92s in Europe are the same as our 93s. The US is the country all screwed up with model years. The 93 model year all sold in 92!

Starting it every month and letting it run 10-15 minutes is actually one of the worst things you can do. Unless the car is actually driven, to full operating temperature and experiences a wide range of loads, moisture will build up in the oil.

Storage of a car means actually storing it properly, and always assuming that the storage period will be longer then you originally intended. Often, life gets in the way and a one month storage can become 6 months very quickly.

WOW. Thanks everyone for getting back to me, and thanks for the website Aaron its very helpfull, i only intend to store it till the snow goes away (cant get it off the yard, keeps wheel spinning in the snow). The car is garaged which is good i suppose.
The RX7 is on a J plate which came from Japan in 2002 so that would make it 93 then i think.
I cant wait this snow to vanish, the only time ive managed to drive it is when i bought it n drove it home. : (

CA Need help on leaving the car stood

Thanks aaroncake for the exhaustive advice. I've had my car in storage for most of the past 9 years, and all I've done is change the oil twice a year during restarts. I let the engine run for a few minutes to warm up the oil so that it's less viscous. Then I use a siphon, available in most autoparts shops, siphon the old oil out, and replace with fresh oil. Then I take the car out for a spin.

There is however a trick which you need to use to with the siphon, which is that there's a baffle above the oil pan which makes the insertion of siphon hoses fed from the dipstick opening, difficult. You have to make sure there are no kinks in the hose. I also recommend snipping off the end of the hose so there's a taper which will facilitate feeding into a small opening on the baffle. Otherwise you'll never get to the bottom of the pan, and you'll never drain out 5 quarts of oil.
