Need help installing Alarm on RHD FD3S

Hi, There

Anyone can help me out with this topic? I just got a Compustar as a gift and wanted to install it in to my RHD FD3S 1993. It came with some info on the wiring but not sure how efficient it is. I've Downloaded a wiring diagram for a 1994 RX-7 LHD and was wondering if it will be the same?

also if anyone has installed any kind of car alarm would be much appreciated if any tips can be provided. I.E if cutting wires are necessary or if splicing them are OK.

Please and Thank You for any kind of help.

i doubt anyone here can actually tell u how to install it as they all r different. just follow the instructions that came with the alarm. u can trust it. they work on all vehicles. u shouldn't need the vehicle wiring as the alarm system wires directly into the fuse box. as least the one that's on my car is. and it was on it when i bought it.

I used to install Compustar alarms and starters, did it for 5+ years (still doing it just don't have a shop) I have not done one in the RX7 but if you have the schematic for the factory wiring then you should be ok. Splicing wires is fine just make sure you SOLDER them, do not use vampire clips/scotch locks/splice locks/piano clips Please solder them!

When you are done soldering make sure you use a good electrical tape 3M makes some really good stuff, start wrapping the tape about 1-1.5cm before the splice and wrap on a slight angle up over the splice then with the same piece of tape reverse and wrap over the tape you just did, that way if/when the tape ever unwraps it will stop.

Make sure that with the compustar alarm's shock sensor (looks like half an egg, and has a small window and a small dial on it) that it never gets turned up past setting 3, they have been known to become over sensitive and a pigeon fart will set the alarm off. When mounting the shock sensor mount it to something very sturdy, something that will vibrate when the car is hit.
To set the shock sensor, get everything set up then arm the car and hit the A-Pillar on the drivers side, do not smack it hard enough to damage anything, hit it like you are hitting ur buddy in the arm for some smart *** remark lol. The alarm should chip a couple times but not go off, if it goes off turn the shock sensor down, if it does nothing turn it up.

Mount the siren somewhere that is difficult to get at, but somewhere it will be really loud and annoying. On the siren there is a little loop of wire, if you cut this loop of wire it changes the pitch of the siren which makes the siren even more irritating.

When mounting the alarm brain mount it somewhere hidden, not behind the drivers dash(most common place) maybe in the center console or behind the pass side dash, maybe behind the stereo? You will have to make that decision.

Is your car standard or automatic? if it is standard then you might want to look at putting a fuel cut relay in, that way someone can not "bomb" start the car. I have not looked into doing this yet on my car, once I get some time I will try to look into it for you. On the Compustar harness there will be a relay with a few wires on it, one will be purple, one will be yellow. another yellow/black ect. That is your starter kill relay, use this one to cut the fuel pump relay, you might have to extend the wires, you could also use it to cut the IGN wire that way even if someone tries to bomb start the car there is no power to anything.

I will look into this a little more.

Good Luck!!

Mike
