Need help identifying parts
Picked up an 87 RX7 N/A 5 speed for fairly cheap to use as my new project car.
I only drove it twice before tearing it down because a lot just did not seem right with it. My brother followed behind on the trip home and almost could not stand the fumes coming off of it. It was very low on power.
The oil pressure gauge does not show oil pressure, the PO said he checked it with a manual gauge and it read ok. Not all that worried at this time. It also was not charging.
The car had been completely gutted except for seats, dash and gauges. Emissions, OMP, power steering, A/C and anything that could be removed has been removed from the engine so far as I can tell.
Engine appears to have been opened up in its past, most likely by the owner who did all the other work. Unfortunately this person did not use gaskets anywhere and used huge amounts of blue silicone to seal everything.
As I tore it down I found that between the upper and lower intakes the silicone had bubbled into the ports and taken up at least half the port volume, same story for the lower to housing. Found numerous vacuum leaks. Intake has several open vacuum ports and a funky block plate that was warped and not sealed. The aux ports were wired open with bread ties.
For my questions I have quite a few pictures of items that I do not know what they do or why they have been deleted, the PO used various means to delete these things, none of them being very effective. Any help identifying anything will be useful, I do not even know if this is the engine that originally came in the car. Thanks for any help, this car is just a mess.
Here is how it was when I got it home, looks fairly innocent.
As it sits now. I am doing a wire tuck while doing the engine repairs.
There is a sensor screwed in there, but it was not hooked up, looks new.
That thicker 3/4? hose running towards a hole in the firewall was not hooked into anything. I also removed a large amount of epoxy from the crevice on the left rotor housing just behind the 13B.
PO used what appears to be a rubber foot from a chair or table to block that off on the lower left side. Looks like the plate it is attached to does not belong there as one bolt is not attached to anything.
Better picture of the housings. It almost looks like that area has been welded on.
No idea what the coolant hose is for, assuming coolant flow to rear housing? You can also see that the PO used the same blue silicone to seal the injectors instead of o-rings. The fpr was also leaking fuel badly.

I have to approve this..I am almost in tears!
If you were closer man,I would Dig into that baby and help you fix it!...whoever had it should be "flogged"!
On the bright side?..nice air filter???(sorry!, that's all I got!)

I put that air filter on before taking the picture, it had a greasy K&N on it. Wanted to take it for a drive without the greasy filter on it and had that one laying around the garage. Was hoping it was being choked by the greasy filter and causing the rich condition. I was wrong however, and I am sure the answer had to be the port flow being limited by silicone and the gas leak. That was the second drive that caused me to decide to tear it down and start from scratch to be on the safe side.

proper gaskets, and some Injector grommets and O rings come to mind right off the bat..and If you are doing this you may as well send then to get cleaned. They will give you all new orings and grommets when you get them serviced( Injector-Rehab Fuel Injector Cleaning Services ..aka: Kg Parts).

Not a bad idea to have them gone over. There was silicone partially covering the injector tips, probably causing fuel to pool instead of spray evenly.
Would it be safe to continue with the deleted items, only with the areas properly blocked and sealed?
Not sure about that hose going to the firewall being left open like that, should I just get rid of it or does it go to a missing piece of equipment that is necessary.
The front rotor housing has me worried and I would prefer not to waste time fixing something that could be ruined already and start migrating towards new components. Anything look out of place with it?
