Need help finding a intercooler for my fd

Hi i could seriously use some help looking for a intercooler for my mildly built fd. Having motor rebuilt and ported and need help choosing what intercooler ive looked all over. I was going to purchase a smic kit from cx racing and don’t know if i want to go with that if someone could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated really looking for a smic have the money to purchase just need some help selecting. If you could drop a link to the intercooler too would be greatly appreciated.

There are probably a hundred threads in the 3rd Gen. tech section on the subject. Why? Because there is no answer to what’s “best” . Regardless these might get you started. It’s kind of like picking the “best” beer. I can tell you why I picked my PFS (no longer available new but come up used occasionally) but those reasons may not be all that compelling for you. Personally I think a SMIC should be chosen with the duct and intake at the same time.

Probably also worth considering what size smic you want (ie, did you relocate the battery, aftermarket or stock air intake).

Find a welder that can tig with a good reputation behind him/her and have one custom built. That way you can make it how you want it to look. My rule of thumb is to almost stay away from eBay parts. Some of had success with it but I have never.

Hey you guys think i can run the stock intercooler on stock boost full exhaust on a streetported motor??

Well IMO IAT’s will be higher, but kept at stock boost it should be fine if you drive reasonably....no track days. But if “full exhaust” means mid pipe and cat back you have a real risk of boost creep. Just leave the cat in.
