KS Need Headlight Help With My 1st Gen!

Just picked it up today (its a 81 rx7 12a) and one of the first issues I would like to address would be the headlights not sitting flush with the bumper / body of the car. I have adjusted the ***** on the inside of the engine bay and they are all the way in the down pos. The headlights are about 1" above where they should be sitting, keep in mind I am talking about just the front of the headlight doors not the entire light assembly. Thanks for all the help in advance.

The ***** you turned are actually the manual method of raising & lowering the lights in case of malfunction. First I would check the links fom the motor to the light assy., there are 2 for each side & they have nylon bushes that wear out & come apart. If bushes are good, there should be no play at all in the links. They are available for purchase from Mazda, Mazdatrix stocks them. They just pop off & back on. If broken, they will not give full travel. The motor assembly is held on by 3 or 4 bolts & 1 nut, some hidden, if you loosen all & slide the assy. back & forth this changes the amount the lights protrude above the bodywork. Finally, you can adjust the stops on the body that regulate the final up & down resting positions. These are hard to see, somewhat hidden & painted body color. Doing all this, in this order, should resolve the problem. I worked on my light assys. on my '81. I had broken bushes in the links & after replacement I had to adjust position by moving the assys. back & forth to get them to sit flush.
