Of course the battery needs a ground. The + cable from the battery splits and runs to the alternator, starter and main fuse box. The negative cable from the battery runs along the frame rail, grounds at the shock tower, and then grounds again at the starter.

Edit...I mentioned to check all the battery connections in post #7.

Also see this page: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/grounding.htm

Have you tested the alternator yet?

i just got my battery back from kragens im gonna have it test it out today , unbolt the alternator and leave it over night c if battery still drains.

if the battery is good dat means my alternator is bad right? or i could just have a bad ground connection

check the connections on your battery as well, clean off any build-up off the terminals for a clean connection

If it's not the alternator you must have a short somewhere from the alternator to thr battery. You will have to troubleshoot. Good luck.

OK, now check the connections around the stereo then. You'll find a schematic in the FSM of the stock wires.

when i turn the key the interior light and head light did not dim at all .... i dont get it please help me
get some one to jump you again if you need to,but just get car started.once started disconnect battery entirely + & -,if the car does not die once battery is disconnected that is a good sign.know have a buddy of yours get in car while running and you take a volt meter put it on 20v dc, put the meter on battery cables accordingly once you have meter on positive and negative wires it should read 10-12volts idling, have your buddy give it gas then the meter should read voltage up and above 13v,and if voltage goes up and down with gas pedal your alternator most likely is good. if your engine dies when you unhook battery, alternators bad. hope that helps

Troubleshoot the starter as per instructions in the FSM. Please don't hijack other threads. You can post your own.
