CA My 79' rx-7 needs help

I have a Limited Edition 79' rx-7, I just got it about a month ago
and its having problems with bogging out when below 3000rpms.
If I dont get a good start at about 4000 rmps in 1st my car missfires and ofcoures backfires. I know theres allready posts on this but I need to up my count. So I bought a new fuel filter and I was woundering what spark plugs I should use and advice on where I can get some. Also do I have to get a speical kind of spark plug wires?
I hope this will help smooth everthing out but is there anything else I should do?

Ok it's probably your fuel shot diagram...It would be a good idea to run some carb cleaner through the carb and see if it helps. Alo of times these cars are so old the carb needs to be rebuilt.

The rebuild kit costs me like 50% for all the gasket's and i was able to do it on my 84 gsl in a day in my garage.

Oh one more thing have someone get inside your car i wnat you to take the air filter top off and look down inside your carb. Now have the person inside the car push on the gas pedal you should see two even jet's of gas shoot into the carb. If not or if they are weak thats a sign you need to replace your fuel shot diaphram.

Experienced similar symptoms on my 80 LS a year ago. Rebuilt the carb and it now runs and idles perfectly.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll take a look down the carb when I get off.
I was thinking about rebuilding my carb last night. I was researching how to do it, it looks a lot easier then I thought it would be. I was looking at the sorenson kit from Autozone. Or can you guys recommend a better rebuild kit? Also what tools will be req.
For the rebuild?
