OH Mixing oil brands

Hey y'all,
Is it ok to mix oil brands? I'm going to be needing a quart soon and I don't know what the dealer that serviced the car put in it. I know it's 10w-30, I was going to use castrol GTX. If your answer is going to be why don't you just change the oil, then my answer to that is going to be I'm just going to continue taking the car to the dealer the first owner has been taking it to for the last 20 years. Plus I don't have the tools to do it myself.
Thanks

oil is oil..you're fine if it is Castrol or Pennzoil or whatever..
If you do happen to buy it yourself, buy whatever you want, cheap stuff is just as good to use.It won't Kill the car.
..
You opened another can of WORMS with another OIL thread..this is Discussed more times than you can shake a stick at.

Just don't mix gas from different stations. Hair will turn gray, you'll think Roseann Barr is "hot" when singing the National Anthem... and your car will blow up.

Dang it man I was gonna get gas at the station I've been getting it at yesterday bc the thought of using the same gas crossed my mind. But instead I got it at another station. Why is it bad? It's the same octane. I like shell.

No, he was making a joke.

You can mix gasoline brands, as well as octane ratings. The same applies to oil, in that you can mix brands and viscosity ratings. You only need to be careful with these types of issues when you have a race car or a highly-modified street car that is running on the ragged edge between peak performance and catastrophic failure.

My RX-7s seem to perform best with Shell fuel and Castrol GTX engine oil. I have tried several different brands of synthetic transmission and differential oil, and I have not noticed any difference between them, and they all work much better than mineral gear oil.

I agree with respect to the subject of this thread, but were this the Rotary Performance section I would open up my can of WORMS on that statement.

Synthetic Oil

I have a 1980 RX7 in mint condition but I only drive it when it is nice out. I change the oil at least once a year - should I use synthetic oil instead or regular oil, is there a specific brand of synthetic oil that is better than the others?

Just use regular mineral oil if you are not driving the car in a harsh environment.
