I've heard of a few guys swaping out the stock box for a Miata trans in the 1 gen. If anyone knows what you need to do this, please share.

I have read of it being done in 1st gens. usually by race shops. IIRC, they generally swap out the internals re-using the stock 1st gen case.

 

Yes, I knew about the interals being swaped. But recently heard about the complete box being swaped.

But like I said, this is just "hear say".

I'm trans forming a Pro 7 car to NASA PT rules, and trans swaps are free (no points).
It's just better gearing for racing and a little smoother shifting.
