CA Manual Transmission for auto?

My daughter has a '84 GSL that has only 84K miles. Bad thing is that it has a automatic which spoils all the fun. Since I am the Daddy mechanic and do lots of my own auto repairs, we want to know how involved it is to install a stock manual? I'm sure someone out there has tips or a process of what parts I need to collect before I start. Any help is welcome... Rich

I am not 100% sure when it comes to the FB's, but you would need the transmission itself, most likely the crossmember/mount for it. Starter might be different, flywheel will be needed (not sure if FB has built in counterweight on flywheel or you need a separate one), clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, clutch pedal, line for master to slave cylinder, driveshaft (they should be different). I think the covers it.

Best way to do it though. Find a junk donor FB (not hard to find), take all the parts you need off of it and sell the rest on here to make up for what you bought it for. All the locations for pedal ect. will be on the FB already, you might have to make openings for the master cylinder (again im not 100% sure on the FB).

Hope that helps. If you get the factory service manual, you can see everything that is different between the auto and manual. It should be available on the interenet, search FSM on here...
