Lose belts

I have an 86 rx7. Bought it new! Still enjoy it! My alternator belt and my air pump belt can get really lose. Other times they are tight. Thought it might be a failing water pump berring, but there are no other water pump breakdown symptoms. Any thoughts or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

take the time and invest in some NEW Belts.
You are looking at about 25 bucks.(max).

Your water pump is not the culprit as it will tell you IF it is shot by either giving you overheating problems(worn impeller blades ) OR leak at the front (bad water pump bearing)..when that goes it just starts to dribble under the NOSE of the water pump to let you know that it is no longer in good operational condition.
