Would a question about ripped leather on a steering wheel count as technical? Just wondering if anyone knows how to fix scratched leather on my 1994 RX7 steering wheel. An auto re-upholstery shop said that the way the leather wraps into the center airbag hub is making it impossible for them to remove. Any tricks out there?

From your post I'm not sure if it's "ripped" or "scratched", but if the upholstery shop doesn't want to tackle it, there's probably not much to be done. When you're able, stock OEM steering wheels come up in the 3rd Gen PARTS FOR SALE section. Or you can post a WTB ad.

There are definitely OEM wheels on the boards, aftermarket wheels are also nice. A friend of mine had a great sparco wheel

As noted by SgtBlue: Easy to find used OEM wheels. There is also a forum member who does rewrap steering wheels, shift *****, etc with new leather and stitching. You can find his work in the Interior Section...it appears to be very high quality work.

Thanks for the replies - I have an upholstery/trim guy coming out to work ok it in another week or so. With any luck it will be a good enough fix and if not I'm glad to know there are other resources available! I appreciate all the answers very much!
