NJ Leaky sunroof - '93 RX-7

My '93 RX-7 has a leaky roof. I believe it is the weatherstrip.

I contacted my local Mazda dealer about repairing it. They want $200 for the weatherstrip and approx $250 to install it!!!

The weatherstrip looks like it can be accessed without too much trouble, but I'm reluctant to remove it to check.

Does anyone have experience:
- Does the roof need to be removed in order to replace the weatherstrip?
- Any tips on replacing it?
- Any sources to purchase a replacement that doesn't cost $200?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Jim

I have an R1 so no sunroof.

Read the 3rd gen FAQ thread stickied here and in the 3rd gen section. Link:

Scroll down to the P section for parts where you'll find info on where to buy parts w/o getting hosed by dealer pricing.

Sometimes leaks can be from the rear hatch drains or other drains. Search for "leak" as there have been some old threads on that topic a long time ago.

Perhaps my sunroof drains are plugged? Can anyone help me locate the drain openings?
