Keeping the original stereo in my GSL SE

I recently bought an '84 GSL SE with the OEM Clarion Sound Package (which was "premium" for it's day). In my opinion, it still sounds great. All it lacks (for my purposes) is a way to plug in my iPhone - which is where I keep all my music.

The car is in overall great shape and is all "stock", which is how I want to keep it.

Since I play all my music from my iPhone, I bought an RF Modulator so I can go out from the iPhone headphone jack directly into the antenna input of the car stereo system.

I should mention here that the one exception to everything being "stock" is the antenna. The power antenna was broken, so I replaced it with a fixed, black rubber antenna that looks cool with the black car. So, needless to say, the power cord that went to the antenna now is plugged into nothing.

After replacing the antenna, I surmised that the most convenient location to install the RF modulator would probably be behind the interior side panel, near the antenna and right-rear speaker. I can easily run the antenna into the modulator, and out to the stereo from there. And I think that would be preferable to pulling the stereo from the dash. But the RF modulator needs power.

Does the lead that was formerly plugged in to power the antenna motor provide constant 12v when the stereo is turned on? If so, that would be a great power source for the modulator, which also only needs power when the stereo is running.

I've skimmed some entries about a power antenna relay, so I'm hoping that isn't going to somehow screw with my grand plan.

Any help would be appreciated!

Idk about the FBs, but the FC is wired so that there is a constant 12V running to the power antenna, except that the (original) radio was the ground for the relay, so if the FB is wired the same as the FC, your idea should work, except that the only way it will have power is when the radio is on. If i were you, i would look at the wiring diagrams for your car and start deciphering it, that way you can wire it right with minimal guessing/hacking
