NJ Just got my fd3s

Hey guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a 94 silver rx7. It has 99k miles and is set up as a single turbo. It has a T66 turbo, full exhaust, microtech computer and upgraded injectors. I am looking forward to keeping this car for a while. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt a few years ago by Acosta. He doesn't remember all the details but he said it did have a street port and 3mm apex seals.

I will post a link to the eBay auction I won.

I am new to the fd but I did have an 87 turbo II and ever since I have been hooked on rotaries. I even bought an rx8 and had it for a couple years before it got totalled while parked on the street.

Anyway I have always wanted an fd and got a great deal on this one. My plan is to drive this car often but it's not my dd.

I have a couple questions tho:

1. The car is tuned for 100 octane. This is kinda hard to find in bklyn. How difficult or expensive is it to retune the car for 93 gas. What are the chances of damaging the engine if I run 93 in the current tune.

2. The current turbo is fairly large and doesn't boost until almost 5k. How difficult is it to swap a faster spooling turbo.

Thanks!

Will post pics soon.

Neil

1. Talk to the guys at IRP in NJ - PM GoodfellaFD3s on the forum to get in touch with a tuner in the NY area. How difficult it is depends on the tuner. If they know what they are doing, it won't be "hard" but will cost tuning and dyno time. Don't take it to a honda tuner or a piston engine tuner.
2. Depends on the manifold and intercooler setup.
