Exclamation Idling/Stalling Problems after replacing air canister!

Brief Information:

I own 3 Mazda RX-7's First gens from 81-82. Only one runs, the others are for parts and things like that....

Well, on the one that runs, Ive been taking better parts off the others and so on... Well, I decided to replace the older Air Filter Canister (Located on top of the Carb.) with n Identical one that's a little newer.

Well, When I took off the old one and replaced it with the new one, The Car's starting to Die a lot... If I try to hold it at 2,000rpm. It will stall and I will have to restart it... this also happens while Im driving it wont stall, it will just be very sluggish//Annoying. I have all of the Hoses plugged back into the engine and everything is where its supposed to be. Im afraid I cracked one of the old Vacuum Hoses.

If anyone has Any Ideas on Fixing this, or may know what could have happed, I'd be appreciated.

Also, Before I did it, the car was running great! My Compression wasn't as High as a Rebuilt one, I think it was at 73% witch isn't to bad for a 1982 Engine.

Thanks again.

start by replacing all of the vacuum lines. You can get vacuum line from an autoparts store CHEAP. just make sure you get the right sizes and replace 1 line at a time so you don't get them mixed up.

Alright thanks, My Friend took a look at it after you said that and we took out all the old Plastic ones located underneath the canister and replaces with new ones we got, all worked well... Still the same Problem. BUT after that we decided it must be the carburetor. So we got some carburetor cleaner and used that, then got the RPM's to about 6,000 and it worked... I think something may have gotten down in the carburetor while we where changing it... Thanks for the Info though... It was a good Idea, most of the hoses we took off cracked as soon as we moved them a little bit.
