My 88 TII is always kicking my ***. The other night i got the car running good. Cleaned the fuel filter. After some full throttle boost the idle was all jacked up. bouncing from nothing to 1k. next day when i start the car it just climbs past 4k and i shut it off. last time this happened i disconnected the C/C cable and everything was fine till now. if i unplug the tps idle stays at 4k. This is unacceptable. Throttle plates are closed. i checked at 4k by going under the hood and touching them. i then removed the uim and can't see anything wrong with the plates. I have performed the throttle body mod and removed the smog devices such as the bac, egr, air chamber etc. this is my only car and my baby. if anyone has had this before or can give me some ideas i would greatly appreciate it.

If the BAC and AWS are gone, then the only way air is getting into the engine & raising the RPMs is via the throttle body. It doesn't take much movement of the plates to bring idle speed way up. Either the throttle stop is completely wrong, or you have a cable pulling the throttle open.
By the way, the BAC and thermowax (TB mod) are not emissions devices, and it's a good idea to keep them.

I found that out after i took them out. i love the throttle response but i could have just fixed my kinked hose under the manifold and kept all that stuff.
Fixed the idle issue and it seems that it was the cable. The unfortunate part is that i didn't get 4 blocks from my house before the egi comp fuse blew and the spare starts to glow immediately. I'm off to easy takeout burger to check out my car right now.
