Idle problem

Well, im still learning about rotaries and i have a quick question. I just bought a 91 gxl last week and everytime i start it up, it stalls out. I have to stay in the car and hold the rpm's at ~2.5k untill it is fully warm. Then it will finally hold idle
Any idea what it could be? the motor has ~80k on it

thanks!

Is this problem happening in cold weather? It could be that the previous owner removed some or all of the cold start mechanisms. When stock, idle should shoot up to 3000 RPM for 17 seconds, then decline to 1500 RPM (when water temp is cold). The speed will gradually drop to 750 RPM, as the water temperature increases.

750RPM is the normal idle speed. If it's dying when warm & you stop, you probably have a vacuum leak. A hose could be off, or the big plastic intake duct could be leaking.

And check to make sure the BAC is connected and functioning.
