I think i have a GTU? Maybe....
I bought my 1st FC earlier this year. After doing some research I think it might actually be a GTU. It's 88 so hopefully it might be the real deal. Can I find out if it is through the vin #? Or what should I look for to verify this? Help me out!! I got to know because if it's a real GTU I want to keep it stock.

T2 mirrors, sunroof, 5 lug, rear diffuser(I think thats what it's called), spoiler (not sure what kind it mostly i see this kind on the t2 but might be wrong), manual windows, I think there something about a non tilt steering wheel, it's NA and its a 88 on the pink but the sticker on the door says 10/87.

The "J" in the VIN indicates that your car is a 1988 model. Some of them were made in 1987.
Yes, it was most likely a GTU. However, it has been repainted, has wheels from a 1991 non-turbo RX-7, and the picture is a little dark but it looks like it has an 89-91 thermostat cover. The OEM thermostat cover is metal and has a fill cap on top.
In the door jamb there should be another white sticker below the one that you photographed. On that sticker there is an “FB” and two-digit number in the top right corner. What is the number?
Also, does a magnet stick to the hood?

FB05 is not listed on the US parts fiche, so it could be a Canadian model. The sticker specifies the 205/60VR15 wheels, so at least we know the car originally had the 5-lug wheel hubs and associated brakes. Your Mazda dealership can look up the VIN and tell you what it was.
