TN I need help !!!!

ok i just traded my crx for a 88' rx-7 and i have no ideas bout mazdas at all but i know it needs the side seal on the back rotor i know u have to take the motor out to do this but i was wondering if there was a way to temporaly fix it until i get money for new seals maybe a type of bars leak or anything please let me know thanks

Unless you can rebuild a rotary engine, do a swap with a known good engine or have a friend who can do either of those tasks for a case of beer, you supply it all, do not get an RX-7 with a bad engine, period.

The rotor seals are more like piston rings, not like coolant seals. There is no fix, and it sounds to me like you do not have the mechanical background to replace them yourself. An engine rebuild from a professional shop usually costs between $2,000 and $6,000, depending on what needs to be replaced. If you can't afford this, then you may want to part-out the car on Ebay.

Also NEVER use any type of radiator stop leak product unless you are planning on trashing the car once you get to your destination. This stuff coats the inside of the cooling system and reduces the cooling capacity of the entire system.

but i mean it does run and drive just has a loss of power and my grandpa has a shop and he knows how to fix rotary engines and a friend hooked me up with a new set of seals for $50 i was just wondering if there was a way to quick fix to sell it lol

or save up buy a new rx7 with a good engine a bam free parts car. i have all kinds of seven parts laying around and i refuse to sell em.. never no when u may get a rex7 missing alot of stock **** then i have it. but i wouldnt sell it just slowly bring her back.. she turbo or na? most likly na but if u have a turbo save the bitch... hell id buy the whole car off you if i was near TN

There is no quick fix, unless you consider engine disassembly to be quick.

If a side seal has failed (which, by the way, is kind of an odd thing to fail...rarely happens) then you'll need to pull the engine apart to replace it. At the minimum for cost you are looking at a gasket set and then a set of rotor seals. Gasket sets are about $250 and then you'll need to add about $400 for the rotor seals.

wut about the automatic transmission fluid technique do you think that may work? and its n/a but a very nice car

That's only for starting rotary engines that have sat a long time unrunning. Debate is still out whether it's harmful or not. It's never hurt any engine I used the trick on. Mainly, that's a trick for gooey apex seals that need to be loosened so you can regain compression.

Sounds like someone is leading you on a bad path. Or selling you a bill of goods before they run away.

well hmm iguess ill just drive it like that till i can get the rotor seals and get my grandpa to let me use his shop i know how to build hondas but i have no idea about rotorary
