How to tell if only one rotor is working?
I recently rebuilt my cosmo 13b engine with atkins internals, stockports et etc, after 621 miles on the clock. The engine has been giving me crap. I have done minor changes to the cold start, af ste, and water map in the low celsius in my microtech lt10s to help the idle out to be where I want it. Not far from what was previously tuned to and now the car idles and sputters after water temp reaches 100 F (like 11 C I think).
Basically it idles at a steady 13 afr till 100F. Then jumps to 10 - 11 afr, idle drops to half of what it usually is, engine sounds a little different (kinda clanky), a little bit more premix smoke than usual, and revving to 3k or beyond it backfires and becomes a total b**** to me.
This is very recent and random. Going to replace plugs, check fuel presssure regulator, oil pressure when on, and see if the spark is working properly. Does this sound like the engine just hiccupped or went kaput and one rotor only now?
How do I tell or test to see if only half the engine is working?

Well does the engine run?
if so you could disconnect the sparks for that rotor and see if the engine still runs.
if both rotors were working when you disconnected the spark the idle would change when you did so.
get a power balance or compression test done.
