How to..intake manifold removal
Ok. So I want to remove my intake manifold to change all the vacuum hoses on my rx7fc 13b t2. Is it an easy straight forward removal and to put back on. Or is there some kind of trick to it? What will I need to buy to remove it and replace it? I know I'll need the upper and lower gasket. Just seeing if it's an easy job to do. And if it's best to stuff rags into the pipes so to not get bits in the motor. And also will I need to silicone the gaskets when I put it back on? If so what kind do I use?
I just did a similar thing.
It's fairly straight forward. Just take your time.
I think all I needed was a 1/4" ratchet. An extension. A 10mm and a 12mm socket. The same open ended . And a pair of pliers....
I did a reinstall for the intake on a 6port 13b...
Just try to pay attention to where everything connected to. Relieve the fuel pressure. Disconnect the battery. Have all the hoses and gaskets ready. I didn't use silicone on any of the gaskets. Replace the injectors o-rings.
Theres a couple of good manuals out there. Not just the fsm. I have a pink covered Mazda manual. Not sure who its by. But it breaks everything down step by step.
Good luck on the wrenching. If you have any more questions I'm sure someone could help you figure it out.

Take lots of pics before , during and replacing the manifolds , mark all lines with a bit of masking tape ( hoses and where they came from ). If you don't you will wish you did . even after working on them for a while everything should be marked lots of guys get things mixed up . Save yourself the trouble take your time and use your head everything should be fine ..

Assuming the FC isn't terribly different in this area...be sure to use the FSM torque specs during re-assembly where your using studs into aluminum. And to lessen the risk of vacuum leaks, I'd get new gaskets rather than re-use.
