WA How do I know trim level on my FB?

I have a 1981 RX-7, manual, no sun roof, not sure about air conditioning.

The VIN reads FB331 for the Vehicle Description.

Once I figure that out how should I go about finding the options and parts so I can get the car back into factory fresh condition?

Thanks for all the help!

I've got a little pamphlet for my '83 with all the options listed but not one for the '81...I'm thinking there was something posted in the FAQ page in the regular 1stgen tech board but I'm not absolutely sure. Let's see if there are any 1stgen guru's who can help out here...you're probably going to be answering a lot of "yes"/"no" questions first, so keep watching this thread closely.

Thanks for the insight...I did find some helpful threads through the FAQ's...along with some dead links...mostly good information...still haven't figured out what my car is though.

Is there a way to tell based on the VIN?

Argh....don't get me to lying...it only makes sense but I couldn't break it down for you...if your question was regarding a Pontiac, I could tell you if the car had a two-tone paint job, if it was convertible or even what state it was built in but I have no such proficiency or books for Mazda RX-7's. I've never viewed them in that light...as "restoration" candidates where correctness rules.

Anybody know where to point this guy?

Also, whenever you find dead links, give me the URL of the thread that has them and I'll do an investigation to bring the thread back up to date, thanks! Just shoot it in a PM to me.

Actually, this post:

Thanks for the links guys!

there was a thread a while back where a similar question was asked concerning options. one of the more knowledgeable members posted the different option levels of the s, gs, gsl. can't find it at the moment but from what i do know is that the gsl has disc brake rear, power mirrows, sunroof. if urs is drum rear than it's not a gsl.

It is definitely not a GSL. No sunroof. I have a feeling its the S model, but I can't confirm that. It appears as though there was air conditioning in the car but that someone removed it along the line.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
