GA Holley Carb on an automatic

Here's my problem:I just got an 82 RX7 that the previous owner placed a RB intake with Holley carb on. He never got it to run, and now it's my proble. The engine turnes over fine, and will fire when I spray the carb directly. It will not however continue to run. I have swapped the fuel pump to one that pumps 4-7 psi, with no change. I understand that the RB/ holley set up is designed for a manual tranny. The only problem I see with auto vs manual is the tranny kickdown for the choke. Has anyone swapped to a holley carb on an automatic? Any ideas on how to bridge this problem without getting a whole new carb and intake? Option 2 is to find another stock intake and carb. I'm headed to Pull a Part this week to see what they have on the few RX7's on the lots. SO I guess my Q's are:

1. Can I use the current Holley Carb (an 1850-3) with the automatic?

2. If so, what do I need to do to make it work?

3. If not, what other carb set ups work?

TIA
DT
