Holley 600 Double Pumper on 13b
Anyone figured out how to get a Holley carb car to go around corners without crapping out? I've got the RB 600 double pumper on their manifold on a stock 6 port 13b and use it for autocross and hill climbs exclusively. So far, seems to be too sensative to float bowl level. Get the level low enough to keep from crapping out in the corner entry and middle and it runs out of fuel before corner exit...will be trying vent extensions next...

RB's double pumper comes with them. Goes great in a straight line but at the cornering gs this car develops, appears to either force fuel out the vents if the float level is where it is supposed to be (even with extensions) or run out of fuel if lowering the level enough to keep it from doing that...not sure if there is a solution. I'm planning to try and REALLY extend the vent tubes probably up through the air cleaner top...see if that does it but so far, I'm not sure this carb will work for cars that go around corners well with it mounted the way it is (transverse).
Thanks,
Chas

Reminds me of a Predator carb when they first came out. Great for straight line accel, but don't try making a left turn under power or you'll be bucking like crazy.
Incidentally, I've never had much trouble with holley carbs around corners. Used 'em lots in sprint car application, no troubles, and have always had 'em on the vast majority of my hotrods. But they were all center floaters if I recall.

With this car getting some pretty incredible grip compared to previous iterations...given the new rubber and setup...the g forces are now at a place I don't think experienced previously with one of these.
So far, I'm getting the sense that it may be a futile setup given the transverse mounting, center floats or not (I've got the center floats as they came with the Racing Beat setup).
Quite an investment to not work.
I'm getting closer though...having messed with jets, float levels, accelerator pump nozzles, accelerator pump cams and float bowl vent tubes (actually put a spark plug boot on the secondary vent tube to see if that would help...results are inconclusive. I have however, ordered a vent tube that crosses over between the two float-bowl vent tubes and up higher, with a dent in it to clear the air cleaner stud...these come on the "Avenger" series of carbs which is supposed to prevent "spill over" through the vent tubes (they have a different metering block for this problem too that might be needed but I'm not sure how much I want to invest in this carb) http://www.holley.com/data/types/pic...A_IntoZOOM.jpg ... these are for off road running at extreme angles...
Was headed down the wrong path thinking it was a lack of fuel, hence needing more accelerator pump but turned out to be the opposite...go figure.
Ended up putting smaller jets in the secondaries which helped the smoking tremendously, put a lower color accelerator pump cam on the secondaries but with a bit bigger nozzles (so far)...the anti-pulllover nozzels are necessary though as you can see a lot of fuel continuing to be sucked into the engine by vacuum after the accelerator pumps supposedly stop. The newer anti-siphon nozzles don't have that problem...
