High Mileage Cars
I have been looking for a 1st or 2nd gen to mess around with but would like to try and keep mileage on the body as close to or under 100,000 miles as possible and not spend as much so I can pour the rest into engine work.
However, finding ones with low mileage that don't cost an arm and a leg are tough to find so I have expanded my search to 150,000 miles. But my concern is that the higher the miles the greater beating and stress that has been put on the car.
I live in the Great Lakes region and snow and rain fall fairly often so rust is a big factor. But more specifically for an RX7 how well has the body held up over the years of ownership, or rather how has high mileage contributed to or affected your purchase of an RX7?
Maybe this particular topic has been beaten to death on the forum before, or throughout the internet.

High mileage is no biggie for me. I have 115,000 miles on my FD now and hopefully I get it above 200,000 and 300,000. Now it doesn't matter for me because: I never plan on selling it, suspension pieces (control arms, bushings, springs/shocks, etc) are new, and my motor and transmission are new. As long as I replace things as they break and do the regular maintenance the miles shouldn't matter. The danger, imo, comes if I were to stop driving the car regularly or staying up on the maintenance. Cars that sit generally are worse for the wear for it, driven cars stay in better shape, at least from my experience. Kind of a rambling answer, but hope it helps.
