Exclamation HELP!! Rx7 that wont pass emssions test

hey guys, i got a huge problem i bought a 91 rx7 as of last week. it has a racing beat dual exhaust with no cat and it wont pass inspection here in ny. everybody i talked to said it wouldnt be a problem cause the car is obd1 and they'll only do a visual but apparently this isnt the case.

so now im bein told that i need to buy a dual catalyic converter and that its gonna run me about 1000 bucks to get done in the garage. ive spent a lot of time looking but i cant seem to find a dual high flow cat to put on this exhaust.

if someone can tell me where to find one, or what i should do PLEASE HELP!! my car is parked out on the street ive already gotten one ticket for no inspection, i cant afford to keep this up.

there are also fuel additives that help alot one i use is lucas fuel systym conditioner(urine colored) makes my exhaust go from obnoxious to way less obnoxious

search Bonez Hi flo cat on google(or here). and you need a cat to pass an emissions test. How else is the car gonna get the Bad particles out of the Exhaust?,Pure magic?..and the Racing beat system will allow that cat to be installed.Make sure that nothing else has been removed from the Engine. The air pump is also vital to the car's operation of the emission's system...New member for sure. The best advice I am going to Pass your way is go through the Archives(sec gen) and READ..if it has been done, altered, fixed, broke and Removed and replaced, the Forum's Sec gen archives and Gen Specific Sections are there. The info is there for the Taking.,It contains "Shiiyte" that guys have compiled over the years so,put your reading glasses on and fill up your coffee mug and go at it!..I wish you luck.Peace.STYX.

Gonna be tough to pass without at least one cat. The unburnt HC is gonna be really high

why would you need two cats on a rotary? Single side exhaust that splits into two right...?

Just replace the mid pipe with a cat.

and if you're still not passing, run a 50/50 ratio of denatured alcohol and gasoline in your fuel tank. I personally ran mine down to 2 gallons left and then added 2 gallons of denatured alcohol. The mechanic was really puzzled when he saw how low my readings were

look up the exhaust..and see if it will fit.I am fairly certain it will.and if it doesn't see if the installer can put flanges on it.that way you just make another test pipe.Put the Pipe on once the car Passes Etest..Oh here. http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fcexhaust.html

+1 U deffenetly need ur air pump, with out it u have no air pumping trough the exhoust to speed up the chemical reactions in the cat. Does mixing alcohol and gas really work sound dengerous

OR He doesn't pass because required equipment is not there.

Some of theses guys are on the right track. you need to go to another DMV facility and see if you can go through it. You just got unlucky and they were being sticky that day. Good luck and try again.
