Hello all.

I have just purchased a 1980 Rx7.
This car has been sitting in the same place for the last 15 years. It was not stored properly. Gas was left in the tank etc...

It was covered with a car cover and under coated from the dealer. It looks almost mint.
At 9222 miles the car looks most amazing.
The brake system needs to be redone and I need to rebuild the carb etc.

What would you do if this was yours? I know a loaded question!!

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments!
Best,
Nick

So far I have rebuilt the Nikki and now need to get it back on the car. I have also taken the gas tank out and sent it to Moyers in PA to get cleaned out and sealed. It was CAKED with crud and rust. I also sent the sending unit to be refurbished to Tristarr radiator in NY.

This 1980 is hard to find some parts for!! I am looking for a very nice radio bezel, all the ***** and shifter boot now...... not an easy find!

Best,
Nick

If the little car has been sitting for that long there will be many things to check and change .vac hoses , fuel lines , will be harder than the top of my head and break very easy ., OMP lines , cooling hoses , check all power connections and GROUNDING wiring for corrosion even when things look good there can be enough corrosion and surface rust between part and body to make things sporadic at best , clutch hose . There are some very good threads on the subject of bring the little cars out of long term storage . seems to me Aaron cake has a good thread out there somewhere for just this sort of thing .. feel free to snoop through the different sections for guidance . Post a few pics of your find ,, good luck have a good one .

I know this may sound unbelievable but the car literally has no rust at all.

If they would have emptied the fuel from the car it probably would have started right up.

It has 9222 miles on it. The motor is probably not even broke in!!

All the rubber looks and feels good. The fluid has leaked from the rear end so I will drain the remainder and refill.

It has the original tires on it still and no dry rot..... this thing is like it was in a time capsule.

I did get the tank back today and it looks great! Still waiting on the sending unit.....

I am going to keep going through it till I think it is ready!!

Thanks for your input!!
