AB Helicopter noise in neutral??

Hey guys, I was Wot from a stop and when i went to shift into 2nd i smoked a bump (shitty edmonton roads) and my foot slipped off the clutch and it went into gear but with a crunching sound ( foot only slipped half way off clutch not totaly)

Now everytime the car is sittin in neutral it sounds like a helicopter and it only happend after that missed shift, and everytime i push in the cluth the sound goes away and its not present while in gear either, only in neutral, any ideas?

Car still shifts fine into every gear, and the sound seems to come from underneath behinde front wheel area

Thanks guys.

sounds like you destroyed a synchro with a bad shift...but from where the sound is coming from maybe you just chewed up the throwout bearing. if it's horribly loud, i'd say tranny is seriously screwed. when i blew a gear, you'd hear it right under the box, since that's your tranny, sounds like a piece of metal in a blender lol

Hmmm, well there's no problems shifting in any gears from 1-5 and the clutch engages and disengages perfectly. I dunno what to do, like it doesnt affect driving at all but im worried it might develop into something baddd . What would you reccomend i do???

Thanks.

i mean if something broke off in the tranny, it's only so long before it bounces into the right spot and jams something and blows the tranny. if it's just a bearing, it's best case scenario and a really cheap part...just labor.

why not go to a transmission shop or find a shop with some older guys working in there who'd have more experience with random noises and diagnosing things. i can't see them charging you much or anything at all to find out what it could be.

if you want to get a little more involved, you could put the car on jack stands or find a safe way to get it in the air and find out where the noise is coming from yourself. if it's the front of the trans connecting to flywheel, it could be a simple throwout or slightly worse pilot bearing. pop the hood, maybe hear something?

can you make a short vid or sound clip?

Kind of sounds like one of the bearings on the input shaft may have gone. If it still works fine for now, I'd probably hold off on fixing it. Very expensive!

bearings are like 20 or 30 dollars, but obviously tranny needs to be removed to fix. tranny....you're better off buying one from somebody on the forum, you can pick up a used tranny for like 100-300 or so on the forums

New development here, i had radio and ac and all that turned off, and i pulled out and as i started accelerating in 1st gear the sound gets louder n louder as i accelerate and then when i shift to 2nd it pretty much stops making any strage noise and 3rd is perfectly quite and normal. And if you remember i said the shift mistake was from 1st to 2nd... any new ideas guys??? I love this site everyones so helpful

show it to someone in person take it to a shop i took my other car to a shop once to see why my car would stall everyone (not 7club) would say my engine was bad took it to a shop they looked at it said it was my clutch charged me 25 bucks to look at it but if i let them fix it that money would go toward my final price (my suggestion)

yeah, just drop by a shop at this point. tell them everything you mentioned here. take one of the mechanics for a test drive too if they don't have an immediate idea
