Heating for shifter?

so when im driving its get really hot by the shifter...i bought the car with the leather torn by the shifter and now i kno y...but i dnt understand y there is heat from there...any help?

Your exhaust heat shields are probably missing. Hack job mechanics remove them and then don't bother reinstalling. Also check the condition of the rubber boots underneath the leather shifter boot. They are often worn out at this point.

i believe it is the boot underneath the leather...either way...im goin to put an after market exhaust system in soon...so ill check the heat shield also...thanks

I have the same problem. I knew my car was more modded then the dealer let on
