Heater and vent issues

Hey everyone!
I have an 82 RX7 and the vent switches don't work (most of the time). I posted earlier about the unit being very loose and the switches have to be help by hand in position in order for the blower to work.
I'm trying to diagnose the issue. My guess is the entire unit is just loose and possible loose connection somewhere. I'm also noticing sparks coming from behind the dash when the blower kicks on.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Corey

you're going to have to just suck it up and pull the console apart and see what's going on. it's a car fire waiting to happen.

do you have a FSM?

So I already had the center console completely off and couldn't find anything visibly wrong. But I'm new to all this and not exactly sure what the hell I'm looking for. I don't have factory service manual. But i do have a Chilton's Import Repair Manual from 1983.
